Years in Perspective
2002
In 2002, God called me to become a foster parent to numerous youth aging out of the foster care system.
Faced with minimal training, I recognized a critical gap in the life skills and management education these young adults desperately needed to not just survive, but thrive.
Despite extensive research, resources were scarce. It was then that the Holy Spirit began to guide me, imparting the knowledge I needed to navigate the complexities of business and transitional housing.
This divine education laid the foundation for the work I do today, empowering others to make a lasting impact in the lives of those most in need.
2004
In 2004, I embarked on a pivotal journey toward establishing a transitional housing facility.
My home became a sanctuary for countless individuals who were homeless and in need of essential life skills training.
What began as a vision soon evolved into a tangible reality, marking the start of a transformative endeavor in the realm of transitional housing.
This birthing process laid the groundwork for a facility dedicated to empowering those in need, providing them with the tools and support to rebuild their lives.
2019
In 2019, we expanded our mission by opening an additional home in Delaware, dedicated to serving single women and women with children from the homeless population.
The joy of service continued to inspire us, though it was not without its challenges. We witnessed tremendous growth in each individual and their children, fueled by the dedication of our exceptional team, who served with unwavering joy and commitment.
We also extended aftercare services to many of the youth we had previously served, and were deeply moved by their gratitude.
Many shared their appreciation for the guidance and experiences they received through Dunamis, expressing both reflections on the lessons learned and gratitude for the support they were given.
2019 also marked a significant milestone with the creation of Camouflage Housing University, our educational arm designed to empower others with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in transitional housing.
In its inaugural year, the university provided online, self-paced courses to over 50 students and served more than 75 clients through our consulting services.
This expansion reaffirmed our commitment to making a lasting impact, not only in the lives of those we directly serve but also by equipping others to carry the mission forward.
2024
In 2024, we entered a bittersweet chapter as we closed the doors of Dunamis in Delaware, preparing to relocate our headquarters to South Carolina.
After nine impactful years in Delaware, it was time to extend our mission to a new state, where we will continue to make a difference. In this pivotal season, Dunamis is shifting its focus to teaching and training others on how to open, manage, and sustain transitional housing facilities.
We are also proud to introduce the DHODI (Dunamis Homes of Divine Intervention) Chartering Program, offering a unique "franchise" experience through chartering.
This marks a significant moment for Vanessa as she embraces her purpose as a global influencer in the field of transitional housing, pioneering a path few have dared to take.
